Junior Nadia Parker and freshman Davon Jefferson were named USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week today (Jan. 21) for the week of Jan. 14-20.
Parker recorded her fourth double-double of the season and had several big plays for the Trojans in their sixth-straight win (64-56) over crosstown rival UCLA on Jan. 19. Her 10th rebound of the game came on a big defensive rebound in the final minute of the game with USC leading by just two points. Fouled with 15 seconds left, Parker hit the first for a three-point lead that gave Parker 13 points on the day. On UCLA's final shot of the game with just seconds left, Parker went up and blocked the shot to get USC back the ball and secure the victory for USC. Parker also had a career-high four steals in the game.
Jefferson scored a career-high 25 points in helping lead USC to a 72-63 win at No. 4 UCLA on Jan. 19. Jefferson made 10 of 15 shots and grabbed nine rebounds in USC's first win over a top 5 team since Jan. 22, 2000 (No. 2 Arizona). He scored 10 of USC's final 12 points, including the last eight points of the game.
