Just a sophomore, Taj Gibson all ready ranks tied for fourth on USC's all-time career shots blocked list with 116.

Entekhabi And Gibson Named USC's Wells Fargo Players Of The Week

Freshman Leyla Entekhabi and sophomore Taj Gibson were selected the USC Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week today (Feb. 6) for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

Entekhabi of the women's tennis team won both of her singles matches and doubles matches (playing with Sarah Fansler) this week in wins over Long Beach State and Pepperdine, to remain undefeated in dual match singles play. Entekhabi's straight-set win over Jill Braverman of Pepperdine was the deciding match for the Trojans in its 5-2 win, keeping USC undefeated on the year at 4-0. Entekhabi is now 12-4 overall in singles and is a perfect 4-0 in dual match singles play.

Gibson of the men's basketball team averaged 18.0 points, six rebounds and three blocks in the two games against the Arizona schools, while making 73.7 percent of his shots (14-for-19). Gibson scored 17 points and had five rebounds and two blocks vs. Arizona, then had 19 points, seven rebounds and four blocks against Arizona State. He also moved into a fourth-place tie on the USC all-time shots blocked list with 116 career swats.
