Nadia Parker of the women's basketball team and Juan Figueroa of the men's volleyball team were named USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week today (Feb. 25) for the week of Feb. 18-24.
The junior Parker led USC to a split on the road, scoring 37 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as USC's high scorer in both games. She had 17 points, 5 rebounds and a block in the win at Oregon and 20 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in the one-point loss at OSU. She tipped in what appeared to be the winning basket at OSU, but officials called it after the buzzer.
Figueroa led USC to the championship of the Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic in Springfield, Mass. and was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The senior had a match-best 14 kills (hitting .321) with 5 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces in the opening round sweep over host Springfield, then had a match-best 33 kills (hitting .423) with 4 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks in the title match 5-game comeback victory over No. 13 George Mason
