It might seem odd that two of the greatest coaches in USC and UCLA history share a mutual friendship and respect. But one of Pete Carroll's favorite coaches is John Wooden. The USC football coach has visited many times with the former UCLA basketball coach to seek his insight and advice, and Carroll has even incorporated Wooden's teachings into his own coaching philosophy.
Now you can hear the same wisdom that Carroll has received, along with the similarly inspiring thoughts and reflections of Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully, when the two Southern California legends sit down with Los Angeles Times columnist T.J. Simers at "Scully & Wooden: For The Kids" on June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live.
The evening benefits several important charities, including ThinkCure, the Dodgers' official charity that champions pediatric cancer research at USC-affiliated Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Last fall, USC Athletics teamed with ThinkCure to help raise awareness of its mission at Childrens Hospital and at City of Hope. Proceeds will also go to the pediatric cancer program at Mattel's Children's Hospital UCLA.
