Sandra Olsen started her tenure as assistant athletic trainer at USC in 2001. Prior to taking the position at USC, Olsen worked one year as an assistant athletic trainer at Loyola Marymount University and three years at Salem International University in Salem, WV, serving as an assistant for one year before being promoted to head athletic trainer in 1999.
She earned her bachelors of arts in Kinesiology from Long Beach State in 1996 and acquired her master's of science in Athletic Training from the California University of Pennsylvania in 1998. While in Pennsylvania, Olsen served as the head athletic trainer for McGuffey High School as part of her graduate assistantship. In addition to her athletic training responsibilities at Salem, she was a course instructor and part-time faculty member teaching courses in athletic training and health. She currently serves as the director of the student assistant program at USC.
She has been NATABOC certified since 1997 and CSCS certified since 1999.
