THIS YEAR: Sophomore Kristine Busa looks to build off an outstanding first season for USC in which she posted the second-farthest javelin throw in school history.
2008: Busa wasted little time in making her mark at USC by posting the third-farthest javelin throw by a Trojan female of 164-1 at the Trojan Relays on March 1, her first collegiate meet. She bettered that mark with the second-best javelin throw of 169-7 (51.70) at the Trojan Invitational on March 22, trailing only Inga Stasiulionyte's school record of 186-10 (56.95) set in 2002. She won the javelin competition at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 3 with a throw of 161-6. She then placed fifth in the javelin at both the Pac-10 Championships and the NCAA West Regional with throws of 158-4 and 158-1 respectively. Threw the javelin 150-11 in the preliminaries at the NCAA Championships and did not advance to the finals.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Rigas Secondary School No. 25 in Latvia. ..Competed at the European Junior Championships in 2007...Has a career best in the javelin of 166-6 (50.74m).
PERSONAL: Kristine was born on May 5, 1988 in Riga, Latvia...Likes to dance and listen to music in her spare time...She is an undeclared major at USC.
