THIS YEAR: Junior Eva Orban enters the season as one of the top hammer throwers in the country and as the school record-holder in the event. She has placed no lower than third in all six postseason meets in her career.

2007: Had a season best in the hammer of 219-9 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15. For the second consecutive season she won the USC-UCLA Dual Meet hammer competition, this time with a throw of 210-0 (she set the meet record with a throw of 215-0 in 2006). Placed second in the hammer at the Pac-10 Championships at Stanford on May 13 with a throw of 217-8, two inches short of the winner Britney Henry of Oregon. Achieved revenge at the NCAA West Regional in Euegene, Ore. on May 26, winning with a throw of 219-0. Took third in the hammer at the NCAA Championships on June 8 with a throw of 218-3.

2006: Orban made an immediate impact for the USC track and field program during her freshman season, setting the school hammer record and placing second at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors...She won the Pac-10 hammer title with a meet-record and then school-record throw of 221-7 (67.53m) on May 14 in Eugene, Ore...She passed Julianna Tudja's mark of 218-9 set in 2003...Orban then won the NCAA West Regional on May 27 in Provo, Utah with a new NCAA West meet record throw of 226-8 (69.10m), which also bettered her school record and established a Pac-10 record...scored eight points for USC at the NCAA Championships on June 10 in Sacramento, Calif. as she placed second in the hammer with a throw of 220-11 (67.35m).

HIGH SCHOOL: Had a personal best of 68.70 in the hammer...Represented her native Hungary in the 2004 Olympics and threw the hammer 65.76m, but did not qualify for the finals.

PERSONAL: Eva was born on Nov. 29, 1984 in Papa Veszprem, Hungary. She is is an Economics major at USC.
