THIS YEAR: Sophomore Ahmad Rashad made an immediate impact for the USC track and field program, earning All-America honors. He will be taking aim this season at the USC top 10 lists in the 100m and 200m dashes.
2007: Enjoyed a fantastic freshman season as he placed eighth in the 200m dash at the NCAA Championships held in Sacramento, Calif. to earn All-America honors. He was also named the Pac-10 Track and FIeld Newcomer of the Year. Placed seventh in the 200m race at the NCAA West Regional in Eugene, Ore. with a time of 21.47 and was part of USC's winning 4x100m relay team with a season-best time of 39.50. Was a three-time winner at the Pac-10 Championships at Stanford from May 12-13, winning the 100m with a wind-aided time of 10.20, the 200m with a PR of 20.56 and the second leg of the 4x100m relay team which was victorious with a time of 39.66...he became the second consecutive Trojan to take the conference sprint double as Philip Francis won both the 100m and 200m dashes at the 2006 conference championship. Rashad also won the 100m (PR of 10.33), 200m (21.04) and was part of the winning 4x100m relay team at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet no April 28 won by the Trojans.
HIGH SCHOOL: Slowed by an injured hamstring during his senior season...Won the Nike Indoor Sprint Title by running a 6.73 60m dash, the year's fastest by a prep...As a junior at Carman-Ainsworth High in Flint, Mich, he led his team to the Div. I state title...Has a 21.02 legal 200m time and a 20.73 wind-aided time...Also has a legal best of 10.52 in the 100m and a wind-aided time of 10.37...Was a High School All-American.
PERSONAL: Ahmad was born on Dec. 12, 1987 in Flint, Mich...Likes to play video games games in his spare time...Also plays the trumpet...Favorite musical artist is Ludacris...is a Sociology major at USC.
