THIS YEAR: Senior All-American Jesse Williams is the top collegiate high jumper in the country and has set the bar high if he is to improve on last season's success. He is the second ranked U.S. high jumper.

2005: Williams became the first Trojan to ever win the NCAA indoor and outdoor high jump title in the same season...Set the school record with a high jump of 7-6 on June 11 to win the NCAA outdoor title, then bested that mark with a jump of 7-6 1/2 on July 26 at the DN Galan Track and Field Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. He won every meet he competed in, including the Pac-10s with a jump of 7-5 3/4 (breaking the Pac-10 record which had stood 18 years) and the NCAA West Regional with a jump of 7-4 1/2...Won the NCAA Indoor title with a jump of 7-5. He was also named the Pac-10 Male Field Athlete of the Year.

2004: Williams earned indoor All-American honors for the second-straight year by placing seventh at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships with a jump of 7-1 1/2...He had a fine outdoor season as well, finishing second at both the Pac-10 meet and the NCAA West Regional meet...He won the high jump at the UCLA dual meet with a season-best 7-3...He tied for 15th at the NCAA meet with a jump of 7-0 1/4.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE: As a freshman for the Wolfpack, Williams was second at the 2003 NCAA indoor meet and was seventh outdoors...Was also second at both the indoor and outdoor ACC Championships...Had a best jump of 7-4 1/4.

HIGH SCHOOL: Williams prepped at Broughton High in Raleigh, N.C., where he won the high jump at the North Carolina 4-A state meet three years in a row...He is the state indoor and outdoor prep record holder in the high jump at 7-3...He won the Adidas Championship in 2002 and was fourth at the 2002 World Junior Championships, as well as the Penn Relay champion...He also long jumped, hurdled and wrestled in high school and was fifth at the North Carolina state wrestling championships as a senior.

PERSONAL: Jesse was born on Dec. 27, 1983 in Modesto, Calif....He is an undeclared major at USC.
