LOS ANGELES --- Jason Jacobs went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI while Joey Side went 3-for-5 with two doubles as the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the USC Trojans, 3-2, in nonconference action at Dedeaux Field. This is the first time that Georgia has played on the West Coast.

The Bulldogs got nine hits off USC ace Ian Kennedy (2-3), who took the loss despite just two walks and 11 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Georgia remains perfect on the season at 7-0 while USC fell to 8-8 overall.

Kennedy recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game for the 11th time in his career. He passed Randy Flores (1994-97) on USC's career strikeout list for fifth place and currently has 324 as a Trojan, 28 behind Mark Prior (2000-01) in fourth place.

Bobby Felmy led off the Georgia second with a walk and scored on Jacobs' long double to right center. Jacobs later scored on Gordon Beckham's single to center. The Bulldogs added another run in the fourth on Matthew Dunn's RBI single to left.

USC nibbled at Georgia's lead, but did not record a hit in four innings of relief by Adam McDaniel and Joshua Fields. Fields threw two perfect innings to register his third save of the season as starter Mickey Westphal (1-0) went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and strikeout.

The series resumes tomorrow at 6 p.m. with the series finale on Saturday (March 4) at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com with video streaming available courtesy of College Sports' All-Access.
