Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Junior left-hander Tommy Milone (Saugus/Saugus HS) allowed just two hits in seven innings while striking out eight as the USC Trojans shut out the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats, 5-0, in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Dedeaux Field. Brad Boxberger and Robert Stock threw a scoreless inning each in relief to help with the combined shutout.

USC (10-9, 1-1) evened the Pac-10 Conference series after Arizona (13-4, 1-1) beat the Trojans, 10-2, in the first game of today's doubleheader.

Milone struck out the side in the second. The Wildcats loaded the bases against him in the fourth, but Milone induced a fly out by Mike Weldon to end the inning. Boxberger, who had not pitched since March 2, struck out the side in the eighth before Stock retired the Wildcats in order to secure the victory.

Anthony Vasquez had two RBI for the Trojans while Grant Green, Roberto Lopez and Derek Perren had two hits each.

USC's first run came in the second when UA starter David Coulon (4-1) loaded the bases with three walks and forced in the run with his fourth walk of the inning against Vasquez.

Green led off the fifth with a single and advanced to third when Brad Glenn allowed the ball to bounce off his glove for a two-base error. Lopez then singled home Green before Perren hit Coulon's 0-2 pitch to left center for an RBI double.

Tomorrow's series finale starts at noon and will be broadcast live, along with Gametracker live stats, on usctrojans.com and TrojanTV All-Access.
