SEATTLE - Greg Isaacson and John Otness went a combined 5-for-11 with three home runs and 11 RBI Friday as the Washington Huskies pounded the USC Trojans, 26-2, in the first game of a Pac-10 Conference series at Husky Ballpark. The Huskies are now tied for third in the Pac-10 with Arizona while USC is two games back.

The margin of defeat (24 runs) ties a USC record set last year against Loyola Marymount in a 31-7 loss. Washington (38-16, 13-9) jumped out early with seven runs in the first inning on two-run homers by Aaron Hathaway and Isaacson. Isaacson hit his second home run of the game with a grand slam in the sixth.

Washington chased USC starter Bobby Paschal (3-7) in the first, who allowed seven runs on six hits. USC fell to 28-26 overall and 11-11 in Pac-10 play. The Trojans are now in a must-win situation to win the final two games of the series to receive consideration for a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Sean White improved to 8-4 on the season for the Huskies and struck out nine batters in five innings of work.

The Huskies belted five home runs as part of a 27-hit attack and held a 17-0 lead before the Trojans scored their first run in the fourth on an RBI double by Spencer Gordon.

The series will continue tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the finale on Sunday (May 25), also at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
