LOS ANGELES -- Junior catcher Jeff Clement and sophomore pitcher Ian Kennedy were named to the 2005 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America teams as announced by Collegiate Baseball. Clement earned first team honors while Kennedy received second team recognition.

It is the second straight year that Clement has earned preseason All-America first team honors. Last year, he batted .293 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI.

Kennedy went 7-2 with a 2.91 ERA, one save and 120 strikeouts in his freshman campaign last year for the Trojans.

Both Clement and Kennedy were members of the 2004 U.S. National Team.

The Trojans will open the 2005 regular season on Tuesday (Feb. 8) against San Diego State at Dedeaux Field starting at 6 p.m.
