THIS SEASON: Jeff Trepagnier, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound senior guard who is
set to start for his third consecutive season, is a well-rounded swingman
and one of the top athletes in the nation, as evidenced by his 40-inch
vertical leap and high-jumping performance for the Trojan track team.
Trepagnier, USC's second-leading returning scorer and third-leading
returning rebounder, looks to continue the improvements that have made him
one of the country's most versatile players in 2001.
CAREER: Trepagnier has started 58 of his 85 games at USC ... He enters
2001 third on USC's career chart in steals (178), fourth in blocked shots
(84) and tied for 15th in three-pointers (53).
BIBBY ON TREPAGNIER: "Jeff Trepagnier is an example of someone who has
improved each year he has been here. When he came to USC, he was more of an
athlete than a basketball player. But through a lot of hard work, he is
rounding into a complete player. He's not quite there yet. He still needs
to work on his ball-handling and becoming more consistent on his finishes,
but he has made big strides. Last year, he proved to be one of our top
outside shooters. We expect nothing but more improvements from Jeff this
year."
1999-2000: Trepagnier earned 2000 All-Pac-10 honorable mention and NABC
All-District 15 second team honors as a 2000 junior guard ... He led the
Pac-10 in steals (3.2, ninth nationally) and was the only player in the
league to finish in the Top 10 in five statistical categories, posting
career highs in each: steals, blocked shots (1.4, fourth), scoring (15.9,
sixth), rebounding (6.6, 10th) and three-point percentage (.380, 10th) ...
He had a USC single-season record 94 steals (third-most ever in the
Pac-10), breaking the old mark of 62 (Derrick Dowell) ... He set a school
record with 10 steals vs. Utah State in the Maui Invitational, breaking his
old mark of eight ... Trepagnier earned his first Pac-10 Player of the Week
honor the last week of the season when he averaged 24.0 points, 6.5
rebounds and 5.5 steals as USC swept the Washington schools ... He scored a
career-high 28 points on 13-of-18 shooting vs. Washington and 26 points on
11-of-15 shooting plus 10 rebounds vs. UCLA ... Scored five of his 16
points vs. Arizona State in the final 90 seconds of regulation to erase an
82-77 USC deficit and force overtime in an eventual Trojan win ... He made
a career-high four three-pointers at Oregon State ... He was one of only
two players shorter than 6-foot-8 to be in the Pac-10's Top 10 in blocks
(the other was Washington State's 6-foot-6 Tyrone Evans) ... He averaged
36.3 minutes per game, the most by a Trojan since Derrick Dowell averaged
36.8 in 1987 ... He had five double-doubles and played every minute of a
game seven times.
1999-2000 Track and Field: For the second consecutive year, Trepagnier
followed basketball season by competing on the track and field team in the
high jump ... He won the event at the UCLA meet for the second straight
season with a leap of 6-foot-9 ... He then took second at the 2000 Pac-10
Championships for the second year in a row with a jump of 7-foot-1, tying
for the fifth-best jump in school history ... He narrowly missed qualifying
for the NCAA Championships, falling just short of the 7-foot-1 3/4
requirement.
1998-99: Trepagnier had an impact season as a 1999 sophomore guard,
starting 24 of 28 games ... He was USC's second-leading rebounder (5.4) and
third-leading scorer (11.8) and was the only Pac-10 player to finish in the
Top 10 in steals (1.8), blocks (1.1) and field goal percentage (.492,
125-of-254) ... He had at least one block 17 times, at least two blocks 10
times and at least two steals 13 times ... He had a USC-high five
double-doubles on the season, including a career night at Wyoming in the
first round of the NIT ... Against the Cowboys, Trepagnier scored a
then-career-high 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and had a USC season- and
career-high 17 rebounds (the most for a Trojan since 1996) in 37 minutes

1998-99 Track and Field: Trepagnier used his excellent leaping abilities
to compete in the high jump in two meets for the USC track and field team
... Despite never having competed in the event before, Trepagnier, after
just several practices, won the event at the USC-UCLA dual meet, leaping
6-9 3/4 ... He then took second place at the Pac-10 Championships with a
jump of 7-0 1/2.
1997-98: Trepagnier averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game as a
true freshman ... He was second on the team in steals (28) and third in
offensive rebounds (42) ... He was given the Tom Kimmel Memorial Award
(sixth man) at the team banquet ... In the upset of No. 2 Arizona,
Trepagnier made three of the key plays in the game — setting a screen for
Adam Spanich's three-pointer at the end of regulation, scoring the first
basket of the overtime on a follow-slam and sinking a pair of free throws
with 1:12 left ... Against Washington State at the Sports Arena, he scored
eight points, pulled down six rebounds and made a key block in the final
second of regulation (USC went on to win the game in overtime) ... At UCLA,
he scored a then-career-high 18 points to go along with four rebounds and
four steals ... At California, he came off the bench to score 12 points
(4-of-4 from the field, including two spectacular dunks) and also had three
rebounds and two steals in only 15 minutes of action ... Against UNLV,
Trepagnier contributed with 11 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots.
