LOS ANGELES - USC freshman guard O.J. Mayo was named the Pac-10 Conference and SportingNews.com Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 18-24, as he averaged 26.5 points in leading USC to home wins over Oregon and Oregon State.

Mayo hit .471 percent of his shots for the week (16-for-34) and was even better from three-point range, hitting at a .643 clip (9-for-14). In the win vs. Oregon on Feb. 21, Mayo led USC back from a 15-point first-half deficit and 13-point second half deficit by tallying 32 points. He assisted on the play that gave USC its first lead, then hit a three-pointer which snapped a 61-all tie and gave the Trojans the lead for good. Mayo scored 18 of the Trojans final 24 points.

In the win vs. Oregon State on Feb. 23, Mayo scored 21 points in 25 minutes, with three steals, five rebounds and hit 4 of 7 three-pointers. During the week, he moved into second place all-time in scoring by a USC freshman and took over the USC freshman record for three-pointers in a season when he hit four vs. OSU to give him 66 for the year. Gabe Pruitt held the previous Trojan freshman record with 63 three-pointers in 2005.
