Nov. 20, 2007

USC sophomore guard Daniel Hackett, who missed six weeks with a broken jaw and returned to practice full-time on Nov. 12, was named The Sporting News National Player of the Week as he helped lead the Trojans to two road wins while averaging 21.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds for the week of Nov. 12-18.

In USC's 74-47 win at the Citadel on Nov. 15, Hackett's first game back, he scored a career-high 21 points, hitting nine of 12 shots. He followed that up with new career highs in points (22), rebounds (10) and assists (10) in the 85-75 win at South Carolina on Nov. 17. Hackett's triple-double was the first by a Trojan in at least 30 seasons. He also did not have a turnover in the victory at South Carolina.

For the week, Hackett made 71.4 percent of his shots (15-for-21), including 66.7 percent from three-point range (4-for-6). He also hit 90 percent of his free throws for the week (9-for-10).
