2009: After a promising debut in 2008, Casey will push to be a significant contributor at nose tackle as a sophomore in 2009. 2008: Casey saw significant playing time as a backup nose tackle as a first-year freshman in 2008 and was impressive. Overall in 2008 while appearing in 12 games (all but California), he made 12 tackles, including 2 for losses of 7 yards, and forced a fumble. He had 3 tackles versus Notre Dame (with the forced fumble, which USC recovered) and 2 against Arizona and Washington. He won USC's Service Team Defensive Player of the Year Award. HIGH SCHOOL: His 2007 honors included EA Sports All-American second team, Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West honorable mention, Cal-Hi Sports All-State first team, All-CIF Pac-5 Division Co-Defensive MVP, Los Angeles Times All-Star, Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team MVP and All-Moore League Defensive MVP as a senior defensive and offensive lineman at Long Beach (Calif.) Poly High. He had 134 tackles, 7 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries in 2007 as Poly won the CIF Pac-5 Division title. As a junior in 2006, he made Cal-Hi Sports All-State Underclass first team, All-CIF Pac-5 Division first team, Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team and All-Moore League Co-Lineman MVP while making 104 tackles, 10 sacks and 6 fumble recoveries. Current Trojan Travon Patterson also prepped at Poly.
