Nov. 3, 2008

USC senior placekicker David Buehler was named Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Trojans' 56-0 win over Washington on Saturday (Nov. 1).

Buehler was a perfect 8-of-8 on PATs, while 7 of his 9 kickoffs pinned the Huskies within the 20-yard line (with four touchbacks). In 2008, 33 of his 57 kickoffs have been touchbacks and 42 have pinned foes within the 20. He is also 43-of-44 on PATs and 5-of-6 on field goals this season.

Joining Buehler as Pac-10 Player of the Week were Oregon State tailback Jacquizz Rodgers (offense) and California linebacker Zack Follett (defense).

This is the sixth time a Trojan has won Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in 2008, with quarterback Mark Sanchez winning 3 times (following the Virginia, Ohio State and Oregon games), linebacker Rey Maualuga once (for the Ohio State game) and defensive tackle Fili Moala once (for the Arizona State game).
