USC defensive lineman Shaun Cody, who alternates between playing defensive end and defensive tackle, is one of six finalists for the Ted Hendricks College Defensive End Award.

The other finalists are Oklahoma's Dan Cody, Boston College's Mathias Kiwanuka, Troy State's Demarcus Ware and Wisconsin's Erasmus James, as well as Georgia's David Pollack, who won the Hendricks Award in 2003.

The winner will be announced during the final week of the bowl season.

Cody, a 4-year starter who was a pre-season All-American, has a team-best 8 sacks among his 11 tackles for loss and has 31 total tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 pass deflections and a blocked field goal in 2004. He anchors a USC defense that is ranked in the top 6 in every NCAA defensive category.

He is also a finalist for the 2004 Lombardi Award, and a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award and Lott Trophy.
