Senior defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis was named to the 2007 Football Writers Association of America All-American first team.

Ellis, a 2-time All-American first teamer, earlier this month made the Football Coaches, Walter Camp and The Sporting News All-American first teams and was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. He has 52 tackles in 2007, including 12.5 for a loss (with 8.5 sacks), and 6 deflections. He is tied for 23rd nationally in sacks (0.8). He was one of 8 semifinalists for the 2007 Lott Trophy and 1 of 15 semifinalists for the 2007 Bednarik Award. In his career, he has 28.5 tackles for a loss and 17.5 sacks.
