Dec. 16, 2008

Linebacker Brian Cushing became USC's third All-American first teamer of 2008--and the 154th in USC history--when he was named to the SI.com All-American first team today (Dec. 16).

Earlier this month, linebacker Rey Maualuga (Football Coaches, Football Writers, Walter Camp, CBSSports.com, Rivals.com) and safety Taylor Mays (Football Writers, Walter Camp, CBSSports.com) were named to various All-American first teams.

Mays joined Cushing on the SI.com first team.

Mays and Maualuga were also named today to the All-American first teams of AP and Phil Steele's.

Maualuga was an SI.com second teamer and quarterback Mark Sanchez was a SI.com honorable mention choice.  Cushing also made the AP second team and Phil Steele's third team.

Defensive tackle Fili Moala was named to the All-American third teams by AP and Phil Steele's.  Offensive guard-center Jeff Byers joined him on the Phil Steele's All-American third team.
