Sophomore Rory Hie fired a 3-under 69 as the No. 7 USC men's golf team, which spent most of the day in first place, fights for its second straight tournament title after two rounds of the UNLV Southern Highland Collegiate at Southern Highlands G.C. in Las Vegas on Saturday (March 8).

USC, at 4-over 580 (285-295), is six shots back of leader Georgia (574) while host UNLV is second (576) and Charlotte is third (578).

Hie is tied for second (four back of the lead) at 4-under 140 (71-69), his second round featuring five birdies, including three in a row between the seventh and ninth holes. Hie is after his team-best fifth top 10 finish.

Sophomore Jamie Lovemark is tied for 13th at an even 144 (69-75) while freshman Matthew Giles is tied for 17th at 2-over 146 (69-77).

Junior Tom Glissmeyer is tied for 37th at 6-over 150 (76-74) while freshman Tim Sluiter is tied for 50th at 9-over 153 (76-77)

Play concludes Sunday with play beginning at 8 a.m.
