USC sophomore Matt Giles fired a 6-under 65 to vault up the leader board and finish tied for fourth after the final round of the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic at the El Paso (Texas) C.C.
In a 54-hole tournament featuring individual scoring only among All-American players, Giles finished at 4-under 209 (74-70-65), two strokes out of first. Sophomore teammate Tim Sluiter, USC's other competitor at the event, finished 27th at 10-over 223 (78-73-72).
Giles' final round featured seven birdies, including four in a row on the back 9, dropping the four strokes on 13 through 16. Sluiter had four birdies in the final round, matching his total on the first two rounds combined.
