THIS SEASON: A 2009 redshirt sophomore, Shane Tusup is back after taking a medical redshirt in 2008, looking to be a contributor, chiefly in the backstroke. 2008: Tusup received a medical redshirt in 2008. 2007: Tusup competed in three events as a freshman at the 2007 Pac-10 Championships, taking 17th in the 100y back (52.86), 19th in the 200y back (1:52.06) and 27th in the 500y free (4:42.83). He also was a regular dual-meet performer. HIGH SCHOOL: Tusup prepped at Acalanes High in Lafayette, Calif., as a senior, and attended Hauppage (N.Y.) High prior to that, earning prep All-American honors all along the way ... He is the New York state Section XI record holder in the 100y back and owns numerous school records at both of the high schools he attended ... Was a top 3 finisher in the 200y IM and the 100y back as a sophomore and junior in New York and was third in the 200y free and second in the 100y back at the North Coast Section Championships as a senior ... At the 2006 American Short Course Championships in Austin, Texas, he placed 13th in the 200y back and 19th in the 100y back ... At the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals in Federal Way, Wash., Tusup was 22nd in both the 100m back (59.80) and the 200m back (2:08.77) CLUB: Terrapin Swim Team. PERSONAL: He was born on April 23, 1988 ...
