Former Trojan Ous Mellouli, an Olympic gold medal winner in August, resumed his winning ways with victories in the 1500m and 200m free and the 400m IM at the 2008 FINA/ARENA World Cup in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, last weekend (Oct. 10-12).

Mellouli won the mile in 15:16.43 on Sunday, defeating a pair of Brazilian swimmers despite trailing for much of the race. He then went out and captured gold in the 200m free in 1:44.58, defeating fellow former Trojan alum Rodrigo Castro of Brazil.

He took part in six races overall, complementing his three wins with a silver in the 400m free and final appearances in both the 100m and 200m IM. Mellouli almost won the 400m free, but was edged at the wall after leading for most of the race.
