USC's Robert Farah and Kaes Van't Hof made a strong showing on the first day of competition at the NCAA Singles Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. Both Trojans took down their respective opponent in straight sets, securing a trip to the Round of 32 in singles while also teaming up for the opening round of NCAA Doubles as the No. 2 seed for Thursday's action.

On paper, it was one of the toughest opening draws one could imagine. In reality, however, USC senior Kaes Van't Hof made his Round of 64 match against the No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament look like a breeze. Van't Hof squared off against second-seeded Greg Oullette of Florida and roared to a 6-4, 6-2 upset win. Meanwhile, sixth-seeded Robert Farah was also working on his ticket to the next round of singles action. The sophomore pulled out a comeback in a second-set tiebreak to claim a 6-2, 7-6 (4) win over Duke's David Goulet to join Van't Hof in tomorrow's Round of 32 singles play.

The pair will also team up as the tournament's No. 2 seed in NCAA Doubles competition on Thursday. Farah/Van't Hof will play their Round of 32 match against Ed Corrie/Kellen Damico of Texas.
