Nov. 21, 2008

Recent USC grad Kaes Van't Hof is having a successful run in the Futures realm of tennis. Now ranked in the world's top 750 in singles and top 400 in doubles, the 2008 graduate won the singles and doubles titles in Mexico a week ago.

Playing at the Mexico F16 Futures competition, Van't Hof worked his way through the qualifying draw with a pair of straight-set wins. In the main draw, he pulled out a three-set win in the Round of 32 and got two more solid wins to move into the semifinals. There, he posted a comeback win over Croatia's Petar Jelenic with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win. In the championship, Van't Hof pulled out another strong comeback victory, outlasting Switzerland's Alexander Sadecky 6-7 (4), 6-1, 7-5 to claim the title.

In the doubles action at the Mexico F16 Futures, Van't Hof paired up with Rylan Rizza and got four wins to capture the crown. The duo's semifinal match was the tightest of them all, as Van't Hof/Rizza managed a 4-6, 7-6 (0), [10-6] decision over Italy's Ghedin/Grassi to move into the championship match. That's where Van't Hof and Rizza met up against the Australia-USA combination of Ebden/Roshan and tacked up a 6-1, 6-3 win to round out a winning effort in Mexico for Van't Hof.
