Murphy Troy and Juan Figueroa each had 14 kills and C.J. Schellenberg added 12 kills to lead the No. 8-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 30-24, 30-22, 30-18 sweep over host Springfield in the opening round of the Hall of Fame Classic on Friday (Feb. 22).

USC improved to 8-8, while Springfield--the No. 4-ranked team in NCAA Division III--dropped to 11-3. It was the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Austin Zahn had 6 blocks for the Trojans, while Luke Morris had a career-high 17 digs.

The Trojans hit .330 overall, with Schellenberg and Hunter Current both at .400, Troy at .360 and Figueroa at .321.

Springfield hit just .028 and trailed USC in digs, 33 to 22. The Trojans also had 7 aces, while Springfield didn't have any.

USC now faces No. 13 George Mason on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET in the Hall of Fame finale. George Mason came back from a 2-0 deficit and was a winner in 5 games over No. 12Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday.
