USC freshman goalie Joel Dennerley finished out the regular season in the same fashion he began his USC career in capturing another MPSF Player of the Week award. Dennerley earned his first weekly honor from the conference in the first week of action this 2008 season. The Trojan newcomer has since continued to shine in his role in the cage, and has been named this week's MPSF Player of the Week after a powerful performance in USC's last regular-season weekend in which the Trojans improved further on their undefeated run through the season.
Dennerley tallied 13 saves in USC's 6-5 win over Stanford last weekend, including a stop on a Cardinal 6-on-5 with one second left in the game. It was Dennerley's ninth game of the season recording double-figure saves. With the win, USC claimed an undefeated regular-season record at 24-0 and secured the top seed entering the coming MPSF Tournament. It is USC's second undefeated run through the regular season in the past three years.
Dennerley anchors a Trojan defense that ranks No. 1 in the MPSF and in the nation. His 13-save outing against the Cardinal was just one off of his career best, as Dennerley now averages 8.1 saves per game and is allowing just 4.36 goals against.
