USC newcomer Ashley Corral has taken her starting slot for Team USA and is running with it, leading the U.S. Under-18 National Team in scoring in its most recent win at the U-18 FIBA Americas Championships in Argentina. The Trojan tallied 16 points and dished up four assists for the United States in its 116-36 win over Puerto Rico today.

Corral has progressively improved on her output in the tourney, opening with six points in a lopsided USA win over Venezuela and the dealing out nine points and five assists in a tighter 72-56 win over Canada yesterday. Today, Corral led all scorers with her 16-point outing, also nabbing two steals in 26 minutes of action for Team USA against Puerto Rico.

After picking up its first two wins, the USA secured a place in the 2009 FIBA World Championships. Undefeated Team USA will next face Brazil to continue round robin play before finishing up action against host Argentina on Sunday.
