Senior Dewi Claire Schreefel fired a team-low 1-under 71 while senior Paola Moreno and sophomore Belen Mozo are tied for third overall as the No. 4 USC women's golf team extended its lead during the second round of the 2007 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 9) at the Sahalee C.C. in Sammamish, Wash.

The Women of Troy combined for a second-round 3-over 291 for a two-day 11-over 587 (296-291). They are nine shots ahead of second-place Arizona State as they go for their first team win since the 2007 NCAA Central Regional Championship.

Schreefel, who was 6-over after the first round, quickly climbed up the leaderboard with her second round. She was 3-under with five birdies on the day through 16 holes, but a double-bogey on 17 kept her from breaking 70. She is tied for 10th with a 5-over 149 (78-71).

Mozo, who finished tied for 10th and 11th, respectively, in her first two events this year, is still in the hunt for her first collegiate title. She went out 1-under with birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes and came in at 4-over. She is 1-over overall at 145 (70-75).

Moreno, looking for her first top 10 finish of her senior season, lowered her season best to 72 with a par effort on Tuesday. She was 1-under on the front 9 with a birdie on 6 and dropped to even with a bogey on 16.

Freshman Lizette Salas maintained her solid play as well with a second-round 1-over 73. She is tied for 10th with Schreefel at 5-over 149 (76-73).

Rounding out USC's efforts was Victoria Alimonda, a transfer from Santa Barbara City College who is tied for 75th at 165 (77-88).

Action begins Wednesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Last year, USC finished fifth with a three-day 922 (+58), which included a final-day 304,
