Results

The No. 1 USC women's golf team climbed into second place while three Trojans elbowed their way into the top 10 on the second day of the 2008 Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford G. C. on Saturday (Oct. 18).

USC, the 2008 defending NCAA champion which has finished no lower than sixth in 16 consecutive tournaments, is a two-day combined 3-under 565 (279-286), three strokes back of first-place UCLA (562). Oklahoma State, which spent most of the day ahead of Troy, is in third at 567 while Arizona and Stanford are tied for fourth at 571.

Lizette Salas continues to lead all Trojans at 4-under 138 (66-72) after a 1-over middle round. Salas was 2-under through 10 holes and, despite a hiccup during the back 9, now sits tied for second, three shots off the individual lead. Salas is looking to remain the only Trojan to finish in the top 10 in each event this season.

Belen Mozo edged to within a shot of Salas and is tied for fourth at 3-under 139 (68-71). During a three-birdie round, she was 2-under heading into the final three holes before bogeys on 16 and 18.

Freshman Jennifer Song rocketed from a tie for 34th into a tie for ninth after a second-round 69 dropped her to 1-under 141 (72-69). She had three birdies on the day in a steady round.

Junior Caroline Kim is tied for 46th at 5-over 147 (73-74), continuing her solid play in her second time in the lineup this season. She had two birdies on the day.

Junior Stefanie Endstrasser is tied for 67th at 9-over 151 (75-76) after a two-birdie day while freshman In-Ah Park, playing as an individual, is 79th at 14-over 156 (76-80).

Among the streaks USC is trying to extend are six consecutive top 2 finishes, 12 consecutive top 5 finishes, 16 consecutive top 6 finishes and 22 consecutive top 10 finishes.
