At USC:
Two-time All-American Ligita Kaviere enters her fourth season in the USC program... in 2007, as a co-team captain, she was named to the 2007 CRCA All-West Region First Team, 2007 CRCA Pocock All-America First Team and 2007 Pac-10 All-Conference Team... rowing from the No. 6 position in the Varsity Eight, she helped lead the Trojans to one of the most successful seasons in program history... her boat won the coveted Jessop-Whittier Cup at the 2007 San Diego Crew Classic (only the second time in USC history) and was also crowned the Pac-10 Champion after convincingly winning the Grand Final... contributed to bringing the Trojans their first Pac-10 Conference team championship and secured the second team bid to the NCAA Championships in school history... her Varsity Eight remained undefeated until the final race of the season... in 2006, she was named to the 2006 CRCA All-West Region First Team, 2006 CRCA Pocock All-America First Team and 2006 Pac-10 All-Conference Team... rowed from the No. 6 seat in the Varsity Eight boat in 2006, leading the crew to victories over Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and UCLA... guided the Varsity Eight to a second place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic, and a third place finish in the Pac-10 Championship Grand Final, earning an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships... named to the 2005 CRCA All-West Region Second Team... in 2005, rowed with the Varsity Eight at the No. 6 seat on the way to a team NCAA Championship berth, placing first in all but one race including a first place finish at Pac-10 prelims and a third place finish in the Pac-10 Grand Final... rowed to a tenth place finish overall at NCAA Championships in the No. 6 seat... a member of the eleventh place NCAA squad, the first USC women's crew in history to receive a team bid to the NCAA Championships.
Rowing Highlights:
Kaviere rowed for the Latvian Olympic Union for three years in double scull... a seven-year member of the SASS Rowing Club, while rowing in high school... a two-time Latvian Junior Champion and five-time Latvian Champion... won gold in the double scull at the 2002 World Junior Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania... won bronze in the fours at the 2003 World Rowing Championships in Belgrad, Yugoslavia... finished fourth in double scull at the 2004 World Championships, and seventh at the 2003 and fifth at the 2001 Junior Championships... during the summer of 2005, Kaviere helped lead Latvia to a seventh place finish in the double scull at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands... placed seventh in the summer of 2007 in doubles at the U23 Championships in Strathclyde.

Ligita Kaviere was born in Cesis, Latvia... a 2004 graduate of the Murjanu Sports Gymnasium Jurmala Branch in Jurmala, Latvia... has two younger brothers, Janis and Ugis, also a rower... lists Jelena Rublevska, Latvia's 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the modern pentathlon, as her biggest sports hero... majoring in Urban Planning.
