June 10, 2008
Sophomore port Carin Andersson was named to the All-Conference Pac-10 Team for the 2008 rowing season. This is the first All-Conference selection for Andersson and was the only Trojan to be bestowed with this honor this year.
Andersson is a 5'9'' port who hails from Stromstad, Sweden. It is her second season on the varsity roster and she been a key player for the Women of Troy this season. Andersson started the season as a member of the second varsity eight boat. She helped the boat to a second place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic. At the Stanford Invitational, the next race of the season for the Women of Troy, Andersson was moved up to a spot in the varsity boat. The boat experienced success, beating both Central Florida and Victoria. Andersson was able to keep that spot in the varsity eight boat for the rest of the season, adding quality wins against cross-town rival UCLA in a dual meet. Andersson proved to be a valuable asset, helping the team succeed in the Pac-10 Championships and eventually leading the varsity eight to a tenth place overall finish at the NCAA Championships.
Andersson is a four-time medalist for the Swedish National Regatta and is a four-year member of the Swedish RF National Team. She has competed in the Junior World Championships and the U23 World Championships. Andersson comes from a long line of rowers, for both of her parents rowed for the Swedish National Team in the 1950s.
