THIS SEASON: Kristina Rigterink, a 2009 junior, is among USC's top middle and distance freestylers and looks to become a bigger factor at the Pac-10 and perhaps NCAA level.
2008: Rigterink, as a 2008 sophomore, raced in three events at the Pac-10 Championships, taking 21st in the 1650y free (17:10.14), 28th in the 500y free (4:58.66) and 30th in the 400y IM (4:36.44).
2007: As a 2007 freshman, Rigterink was a Pac-10 Championships point scorer and consolation finalist, taking 10th in the 1650y free (16:37.34, season best), 13th in the 500y free (4:48.83) and 25th in the 200y free (1:50.83) ... At the 2007 U.S. Summer Nationals, she competed in the 400m and 1500m free.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rigterink, who prepped at James Bowie High in Austin, Texas, won the 2006 5-A State title in the 200y free and was runner-up in the 500y free. A four-time prep All-American, she swam on 2005 5-A state relay title winning 400y free and medley relays ... She swam in five events at the 2006 American Short Course Championships held in Austin, where her best finish was a sixth-place effort in the 500y free. In addition, she placed 12th in the 50y free, 16th in the 100y free, 16th in the 200y free and 20th in the 200y IM.
