2006
In her first full season of collegiate volleyball after missing two seasons, Gysin earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention recognition in her 2006 redshirt sophomore season...third on the team with 342 kills for a 3.03 kpg average...hit .210 on the season...second on the team with a 2.59 dpg average and registered 293 digs overall...had 27 assists (0.24 apg), 20 service aces (0.18 sapg) and 55 total blocks (0.49 bpg)...second on the team with 23 solo blocks...recorded 10 double-doubles for kills and digs, including 11 kills and 10 digs on Sept. 3 against No. 11 Tennessee and a 14 kill, 13 dig match on Sept. 15 against No. 14 Purdue...started out of the blocks in fine fashion with 13 kills, seven digs and two solo blocks in USC's 3-0 win on Aug. 26 at Texas State...after leading USC with a team-high 14 kills on Sept. 9 against St. John's with a .406 hitting performance, she earned all-tournament team honors at the Gamecock Invitational...on Sept. 29 against No. 4 Washington, Gysin had a career-high 20 kills (20-6-48, .292) with five digs and one solo block and recorded 13 kills and 16 digs in the second match against the Huskies on Oct. 26 in Seattle...had 17 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win against Oregon on Nov. 24 at Galen Center...recorded 10 kills and 12 kills, respectively, in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament against Ole Miss and BYU...finished the season with 11 kills and 19 digs in the NCAA Third Round at Hawai'i.

2005
In July, Jessica Gysin suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee and will miss her entire 2005 redshirt freshman season.

2004
Gysin severely sprained her left ankle in the first week of training camp as a 2004 freshman and played in only one match...she was sidelined for the first six weeks of the season and made her collegiate debut on Sept. 24 against Washington State...she aggravated the injury and did not play for the remainder of the season.


High School
Gysin is a 2004 graduate of St. Francis High in Mountain View, Calif...A four-year volleyball letterwinner...prep teammate of USC middle blocker Diane Copenhagen...helped lead prep squad to four-straight CIF state championships (St. Francis competed as Div. III in 2003, Div. I in 2002 and Div. II in 2000 and 2001) and the 2002 mythical national championship with a 33-1 record...four-time state championship all-tournament team selection, honored as MVP in 2001 and 2003...named 2004 Volleyball magazine Fab 50 selection...as a senior, she was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame as the 2003 High School Female Athlete of the Year...enjoyed her greatest success as a junior, earning honors such as 2002 California Gatorade Player of the Year, CIF Division II State Player of the Year, San Jose Mercury News CCS Player of the Year (an honor she also garnered in 2001), West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year, Cal-Hi Sports Player of the Year (an honor she also won in 2001), Student Sports National Junior of the Year and High School Sports Focus Player of the Year (an honor she also won in 2001)...as a sophomore, was named Volleyball magazine's 2001 National Player of the Year and Student Sports National Sophomore of the Year...as a freshman, she was recognized as the San Jose Mercury News Freshman of the Year...played six years of club volleyball with City Beach and two years with Vision...led Vision to fifth place finish at the 2002 Junior Olympics and earned Junior Olympic All-American honors in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003...named MVP in 2001...two-year member of the National Honor Society (2001, 2002).

Jessica Ann Gysin was born on Dec. 4, 1985, in Santa Cruz, Calif...daughter of Gary Gysin and Karen Gysin, she has one younger brother, Conner, one stepbrother, Hunter, and a stepsister, Jordan...both parents played professional beach volleyball...father played domestically with the AVP in 1984, 1988 and 1989, and internationally with the FIVB in 1994...mother played with Parks & Rec from 1985-87, and with the WPVA in 1987-91...father played collegiate volleyball at UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz...has been involved with various community service activities, including volunteering at a local senior citizen home, the St. Simons After School Kids Program and the Urban Ministry soup kitchen...majoring in communications with a minor in political science.
