John Xie (pronounced 'Shay') begins his fourth season as volunteer assistant coach for the Women of Troy.
In the summer of 2007, Xie served as a court coach for the U.S. Men's National Team and assistant coach for the U.S. Youth A2 squad.
Xie spent four seasons (2001-04) with the Impact Volleyball Club, including head coaching duties last year for the 15-2 girls' team and serving as assistant coach for the 18-1 girls' team. He also served as head trainer for SCVC in 2006.
After playing on the 1999 men's club team at Ohio State, Xie moved to southern California and attended Cal State Fullerton for two years. He served as a volunteer coach for the Servite High boys' team in 2001 before spending the 2002 and 2003 seasons as the assistant varsity and junior varsity head coach at Fullerton (Calif.) High where the team won their first-ever Freeway League championship both years.
In 2004, he served as the assistant varsity and junior varsity head coach at El Dorado High in Placentia, Calif., where his squads won the Empire League championship.
He played four years at Hoover High (1995-98) in Glendale.
