Final Stats

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Rachel Rourke had 24 kills as the Oregon State Beavers snapped a 22-match losing streak against the No. 4 USC Women of Troy with the 3-2 victory (19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 15-8) at Gill Coliseum. Oregon State won for the first time in the series since 1996 and snapped USC's current eight-match winning streak.

Jill Sawatzky added 16 kills for Oregon State (12-4, 1-2) while Camilla Ah-Hoy had 45 assists, 15 digs and six block assists. OSU used a strong blocking game with a 15.5 to 8.0 margin in the match.

USC (8-3, 1-1) was led by sophomore outside hitter Kimmee Roleder (Pasadena/Pasadena HS), who had 15 kills and nine digs. Redshirt freshman middle blocker Lauren Williams (Houston, Texas/Stratford HS) recorded a season-high 13 kills and hit .545 on the night (13-1-22). Freshman Alex Jupiter had her second double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs for the Trojans.

Both teams played to a 16-16 tie in the first set before an OSU hitting error gave USC the lead. Jupiter put down a kill and another hitting error gave USC the lead at 20-17. The Beavers scored two straight to cut the deficit to one before the Trojans reeled off six as Roleder capped it with a service ace for the set win.

It was the same battle in the second set as neither team built a lead higher than two points late in the set. Rourke's kill after a USC service error tied it at 23-23. After Jupiter recorded an error, Lauren Rinderknecht tied the match for the Beavers with the clinching kill. OSU hit .355 in the set as USC committed nine hitting errors.

USC built a 12-9 lead in the third set before Oregon State chipped away with a 10-7 run to tie it at 19 apiece. The Beavers broke away at 20-20, thanks to an ace and Sawatzky kill and four straight points paced a 2-1 lead in the match.

The Women of Troy hit .517 in the fourth set in dominating fashion, but five hitting errors proved costly in the final stanza.

In the final set, Ah-Hoy's termination gave OSU the 3-1 lead. Williams later cut it to 5-3 for OSU, but back-to-back kills from Sawatzky and Bree Knitter forced a timeout with the Beavers ahead on the 7-4 score. The Beavers kept the pressure on and pulled away at 10-7. Another Trojan error led to four straight points for the Beavers, who capped the victory on a kill by Rourke.
