LOS ANGELES - The top-ranked USC women's volleyball team won its 14th-straight match with a 3-0 victory (30-22, 30-21, 30-19) over the visiting Oregon State Beavers on Friday, Oct. 11, in front of 820 at the Lyon Center.

With a 14-0 overall mark and a 7-0 record in the Pac-10, the Women of Troy tie their start of the 2000 season - the best start since 1977 when USC went undefeated (38-0) - and with a win on Saturday, USC will surpass the 2000 mark. Oregon State falls to 6-10 overall and 1-6 in the conference play.

Sophomore Keao Burdine led the Trojans with a double-double (15 kills, 12 digs) on the night and an outstanding .542 attack percentage. Junior April Ross was next in line with 14 digs, two aces and two blocks. Middle blocker Katie Olsovsky led with four blocks.

The Beavers were led by middle blocker Michele Solomon who had nine kills and hit .348 for the match. Outside hitter Megan McMillan and defensive specialist Lianne Dela Cruz each contributed nine digs.

As a team, Oregon State was held to a .083 attack percentage, but managed to match the Women of Troy on the block as each team tallied seven stops at the net.

Oregon State put up a fight at the start of game one, closly trailing the Trojans to an 11-10 score. At that point, USC embarked on an 8-3 run which gave the Women of Troy a six-point cushion at 19-13. Following another USC run, the Beavers committed three attack errors to give the Trojans' three of their final four points in the 30-22 win.

In game two, Oregon State earned its first lead of the match at 10-9, then again at 13-11 by taking advantage of two Trojan attack errors. But that was the end of the Beavers' run as USC scored five consecutive points on Ross' serve and eventually led by as much as nine at 26-17. The Women of Troy won game two, 30-21.

The final game was all USC as the Trojans led by as much as 10, five different times before eventually earning the final 11-point victory, 30-19.

USC hosts Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lyon Center.
