LOS ANGELES - The No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team extended its win streak to 15 and is now off to its best start in 25 years, thanks to a sweeping victory (30-15, 30-14, 30-15) over Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 12, in front of 736 at the Lyon Center.

With the victory, the Women of Troy improve to 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the Pac-10. The last USC squad to win at least 15 consecutive matches to start a season was the 1977 team, which eventually captured the AIAW National Championship and posted a 38-0 mark.

Oregon falls to 10-11 overall and 0-7 in conference play with tonight's loss. The Ducks have not won a Pac-10 match in 28 attempts dating back to the 2000 season.

In addition to holding the visiting Ducks to only 44 points and a .011 attack percentage, the Trojans out-killed (53 to 24), out-dug (41 to 19) and out-blocked (7 to 4) Oregon. USC also tallied three services aces for the night.

Seven of eight USC hitters all hit above .368, including error-free performances from sophomore Keao Burdine (10-0-16, .625), junior Kelli Lantz (6-0-8, .750) and freshman Staci Venski (4-0-7, .571). Burdine's .625 attack percentage in the match set a new career-high.

Oregon was led by outside hitter Jaclyn Jones who posted a team-best eight kills off of 13 attacks for a .462 attack effort.

USC's next match will be on Friday, Oct. 18, when the Women of Troy host crosstown rival UCLA at 7 p.m. at the Lyon Center in the first of two meeting to earn Lexus Gauntlet points.
