LOS ANGELES - Freshman 2-meter player Jennifer Durley scored three
goals and junior goalie Bernice Orwig made 13 saves to lead the No. 6 USC
women's water polo team to a 6-5 victory over No. 8 UMass on Monday night at the
McDonald's Swim Stadium.
The Women of Troy improved to 7-8 overall, while the Minutewomen fell to
7-1.
Durley's second goal gave USC a 4-3 lead with 2:58 remaining in the third
quarter, a lead that USC would not relinquish. Her third goal put USC ahead 6-4
with 1:43 to play in the game.
The Minutewomen's Marcie Hupp scored her second goal to make it 6-5 with
five seconds left, but USC ran out the clock to end the contest.
USC next travels to the Pomona Tournament this weekend (March 20-22).
